I’m performing in Reno this Saturday night and thought I’d put in a day of volunteering for Senator Obama. I just got off the phone with the local campaign office there to see what they needed. The answer: not more people.

“Unfortunately, we’re all booked up for volunteers this weekend. We’ve got over 1,500 people coming in. That’s about all this little town can take,” said the woman who answered the phone. “Things are looking good.”

Most of the folks are coming in from California, BTW.

So if you were planning to volunteer in Reno but haven’t confirmed with the campaign, head somewhere else. There are so many ways to conribute at this point. Here are a few.

  1. Give money to the campaign. Help JJP achieve its $5,000 goal. The average donation is $32. Keep track of our progress with the thermometer in the center column under “election action center”
  2. Make phone calls to battleground states.
  3. Send supplies and care packages to campaign offices. Those offices always need food, water, music
